Since her childhood she has had a close relationship with art for her father and grandfather were both painters whose palettes and brushes she inherited. To these she added her particular chromatic spectrum.

PRESENTATION

Cajastur presents the traveling exhibition of the painter María Jesús Rivero from May to September 2011 at the Cajastur community cultural centers and exhibition halls in Mieres, Avilés, Gijón, and Langreo in Asturias.

She began her artistic training at an early age by attending drawing and painting workshops under the direction of renowned painters. In 1989 María Jesús graduated in Artes Aplicadas (Applied Arts) from the Escuela de Artes of Oviedo, specializing in illustration.

She began exhibiting her work in 1983 around several towns in Asturias. She has participated

in several painting competitions and won a number of awards.

Since 1991 she has busied herself teaching plastic arts in her workshops situated in Asturias.

María Jesús Rivero is a multifarius artist. She dominates diverse art techniques with astounding ability. She has worked on ornamental decorations and murals for companies and individual alike.

The present exhibition comprises eleven sets of paintings; most of them oil paintings - textures, grouped in series that depict Nature in the Valley of Trubia; specially, the landscapes where the Nalón and Trubia rivers run through.

She renders these landscapes in evocative colors showing them at various moments throughout the day and in the different season of the year.

These sets of paintings are amalgamated under the suggestive title "Chromatic Changes. Color and Matter"

This wonderful and interesting exhibition will certainly attract a large numbers of visitors.

Summer

...figurativism; it could be said that some of her paintings tend to Surrealism (1997-2003) The influence of Remedios Varo on María Jesús´work is clear to see. They both share a fantastic, cosmovision; notwithstanding, most of María Jesús´work can be considered figurative within the domain of Magic Realism with some reminiscences of Impressionism.
The Asturian landscape is rendered in an amazing combination of colors with exquisite harmony; the skies are depicted in alluring red, orange, and violet colors; it is an invitation to the observer to uncover the details on the canvas. Every season of the year is captured with endless shades. The snow takes on its original meaning rendered in warm colors un her winter landscapes. The paintings of Asturian seascapes and rives project a sense of peace and tranquility brought about by the colors gamut on the canvas.
Lately she has busied herself painting the sorroundings of Trubia, Asturias. Nature has turned out to be the perfect model to paint; it gives room to the sea, mountains, rivers, leafy trees, picturesque houses, cattle, people; anyway, to summarize a challenging and fascinating theme to explore.
